What to know about GLPs

Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a medication used to support appetite regulation and metabolic health. Dosing is individualized. Higher doses do not always result in better outcomes and may increase the risk of side effects. Our clinic prioritizes the lowest effective dose to support sustainable weight management. Dose increases are only made when clinically appropriate and after nutrition, activity, and lifestyle factors are reviewed.

Potential side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, fatigue, slowed digestion, and rare gallbladder issues. Patients agree to follow dietary and lifestyle recommendations and understand that long-term success depends on more than medication alone.

Common questions

❓ Do I need to reach the max dose to lose weight?

No. Many patients lose weight well below the maximum dose. More medication does not always mean better results.

❓ How long can I stay on semaglutide or Tirzepatide?

As long as it remains effective, well-tolerated, and medically appropriate. Some patients use it short-term; others stay on a maintenance microdose long-term.

❓ Will I regain weight if I stop?

Weight regain can occur if appetite and habits are not supported. That’s why we often transition patients to a maintenance dose rather than stopping abruptly.

❓ Why isn’t my dose increased automatically?

Plateaus are often caused by low protein intake, loss of muscle, or undereating. Increasing medication without addressing these can worsen results.

❓ What can I do to maximize results?

    •    Eat >100gm/day protein

    •    Strength train 2-3 x/week

    •    Stay hydrated

    •    Sleep well (7-8 hours)

    •    Follow dosing instructions closely
